South West Fire Control is part of a national network of nine regional control centres (RCCs), which will handle all of England's emergency calls requiring the fire and rescue service. The South West will be one of the first regional control centres to go live in 2011.

South West Fire Control Limited is a company controlled by local authorities within the meaning of Part 12 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.
The relevant authorities are Avon Fire Authority, Cornwall Council, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority, Dorset Fire Authority, Gloucestershire County Council and Wiltshire and Swindon Fire Authority.
